Coding Elected State Officials in RE

Options
Happy Friday!

A number of our graduates have recently been elected to the Louisiana State Senate and House of Representatives. We would like to add these recent updates to RE so we can easily generate a list of elected officials from our University.

How would you do this?  My thought is to create a organization for the State Senate and one for the State House of Representatives and to link these constituents via a relationship.  I suppose we we could also code them via an attribute, but I find that the attribute table gets a little cluttered.

Any thoughts?

This is always a struggle.  I often times hate having to keep up with this information as far as dates in office, and changing them when they leave office.  I think an attribute or a relationship might be okay, but there needs to be a plan on how they will be used for entering and exiting service.  Will you remove the relationship/attribute after the term is over, and how will that affect the grouping?

As long as it is not a constituent code.
  • Organization Relationship, just like you're thinking.  It's their occupation.  Then you have all the fields you need for start date and end date and any other info you need.
