Importing from Excel

I have a clean Excel spreadsheet and need to import this into RE.  How is this done.

This is simply too broad a question to answer succinctly because every kind of import is different to some degree. By that I mean, a constituent import of new records is different from a constituent import meant to update records, and both of those are different from a gift import, and all of those are different from an attribute import, etc. 


I suggest looking at the Knowledge Base a bit and get your head around some of the concepts there. You can start with the "How to Import" article, which goes over most of the fundamentals. Then once you've gotten through that and hit a wall (which is likely - I imagine all of us hit a lot of walls early on. I know I did), come back here with some more specific questions.
