Profile Pictures: HELP!

Hey CAG members,


Recently I've noticed an uptick in members not uploading a profile picture. We really want to build this Community in a true peer to peer fashion. I think profile pics are an important part of that - putting a face to the name. 


What are some ways that we may not be thinking of to help promote profile pictures? I would love to hear your ideas!

It's been a while since I added mine, so I don't know exactly what the current prompts are for new users, buuuut, 

• Does it seem the case to anyone else that new users maybe register in a hurry because they have a question they want answered, so don't bother in that moment with a photo? Perhaps a reminder to complete the profile after they've been active for a certain time. I know LinkedIn & FB are always trying to get me to finish up or add more after all these years (You know: "You're profile's 80% complete!" "Let's update your headline to match your current position", etc.) I don't often go to my own page, but I do check the notifications in the upper right.
• Maybe the ability to like/comment on a photo?
• I always love the seasonal profile photo changes-- so maybe a contest/drawing/gamification for those that upload might bring in some more.
• Most of us are stuck in front of a computer all day, so show how it helps humanize our interactions. Explain how people are more likely to respond to a post if there's a human face attached.

I agree that the issue might be that new users are trying to get a question asked/answered and not taking the time for the photo. 


Perhaps you could make it a reminder via email after the account is registered?
