Assigned Canvasser

Options
Hi, I just wondered what other organisations are doing in terms of keeping a history of  assigned canvasser information in relationships.

We currently assign a canvasser and keep the previous assigned canvasser with a different canvasser type.  This causes multiple lines when looking at data in queries.

Just wondered what everyone else does?  Do you delete the previous canvasser?  What is good practice.

Many thanks

Jo

We keep all our solicitor/canvasser relationships.  Most of ours have dates to and from.  This has allowed me to used color legends to list past relationships as gray compared to current which are a bright color.  Makes it much easier to spot current relationship.  (I would love to claim this as my own idea but it was something I picked up from John Heizer‍'s post in the old idea bank.)
  • Having multiple solicitors makes a mess of my data too.  I have a new management plan for this when we refresh our portfolios.  I will be adding an attribute "Former Solicitor [fiscal year]" tied to a table with the list of the names of past solicitors.  I will flag those attributes for everyone that was in portfolio for the year and then delete the lapsed assigned solicitors from the relationships.

    The perks:
    • The solicitors names for past periods will still stay on the respective gifts and proposals
    • It will limit duplicates in my data
    • The name of the solicitor for previous time periods will still be on the gifts and proposals that were attributed to them in that time period
  • Moving to RE community.
