Appeals populated in Batches

Options
I've been looking up information and wondering whether anyone has found a workaround.

We have assigned constituents to appeals and want them to reflect in the batch process, almost like an auto pop-up of most recent appeals assigned to each donor. From KB, I've read you can create business rules, but it only seems to apply when entering a gift on the individual's record (unless I'm misinterpreting the article). It doesn't seem to apply through NetCommunity batches, either.

I'm not keen on setting a default appeal on the batch or having to go into each record to check while batching. Has anyone found a good solution or managed to get the business rules to apply in batch?

Thanks!

Yes, you can definitely set up a business rule to notify you that someone received a specific appeal. I use it for all our annual appeals and all our gifts are entered via batch. I'm not in RE to see business rule set up in Config right now but I believe rules for batches are set under the gift info, gift entry. It's there somewhere. Rule is based on a query of constituents receiving the appeal.
  • Hi JoAnn Strommen‍  - thanks for responding!

How does this prompt in the batch itself? ...Would you receive a pop-up once you tab in a donor account?

I would also assume you create new business rules for each appeal?
  • It pops up when you add the name and tab over. For Online Express batches where the names are already populated in batch (same with NetCommunity), you need to click the binoculars by the name and select it again to activate the business rule pop-up. That is still faster than opening each record to look at the appeals tab.
  • What you need to be sure to do is a constituent business rule vs. a gift business rule. Constituent business rule will pop up in both gift and constituent batches. Gift business rules do not work in any batches.

    Thanks, Melissa, et. al.

I'm going to set that up and perform a test. Fingers crossed!
