How do I setup Admin Security Groups and their permissions?

Options

Creating a New Group

1. Create a Group by navigating to Constituent 360, then to Groups.

2. Create a new Group, then Assign group name

3. Set group as Admin Security Group

4. Choose a Group Type or create a new one

Setting up Group Permissions

1. Go to Group Permissions tab

2. For the Permission Types (the drop-down) that you want to set up, ask yourself "What should the DEFAULT behavior be for this group?" Set the Default Permission to that.

Then ask yourself "Are there any exceptions to this default behavior, for certain THINGS?" In other words, "Should the people in this group NOT have the default behavior on certain THINGS?"

If the answer is no, then you are done with that Permission Type

If the answer is yes, then do the section below

Setting up an Override

1. Go to Site Setup, Security Categories

2. Either create a new Security Category for the THINGS that are special, or use an existing 3. Security Category if there is one.

4 We do not recommend editing Category Permissions, but instead go back and find the Group you created.

5. Go to Group Permissions

6. Choose the Permission Type (in the drop-down) you were setting up

7. Choose the Add An Override link. In the popup, give the group the override Permission on the Security Category you created. Save.

8. Click Save again on the main page to actually save everything

The override should show up on the page as an override to the default permission, for a certain Security Category

9. Finally, go into the app containing the special THINGS and set the Security Category of the special THINGS to the Security Category you create. For example, go into Page Builder and set the Security Category of the special "board_members" Page to the "Board Members Only" Security Category. Or for example, go into Email Campaigns and set the Security Category of the "financial report" Email Campaign to the "Finance Committee Members" Security Category

Final Setup

1. Add members to the new Admin Security Group you created.  See this document for details on how to do that.
