How do I use a segmentation upload?

Options

Segmentation Upload is used to either opt-in or opt-out records from an Interest. There are two keys parts of completing a Segmentation Upload.

A. Creating a Cross-Reference for the interest (notice that you always do this for this upload, unlike the Group Assgt Upload where you do it in certain cases)

B. Creating the CSV file to upload.

Finding the Interest ID to create the Cross-Reference

1. In Constituent360 go to Interests.

2. Find the Interest you are wanting to use in the upload and click it. In the address bar of your browser find the part of the URL that says,

"Category=XXXX". The Interest ID is the number after the equal sign. Make note of the Interest ID.

Creating the Cross-Reference.

do the upload in the CSV.

Tip: If you are not matching the foreign_value with a value that is in an external database, just use the Interest ID as the foreign_key also.

4. If necessary enter a description describing the interest, then click Save.

Creating the CSV file for upload

PRIMARY_EMAIL - This field is required for the operation. It will hold up to 255 alphanumeric characters and it is the primary email of the constituent.

EXT_CAT_ID - This field is required for the operation. This field will contain the value of the foreign_key entered as a Cross-Reference.

OPT_IN - This field is required. It is a string field that can only contain either TRUE or FALSE as the value. TRUE to opt-in or FALSE to opt-out.

Uploading the file:

1. Go to Constituent360, then click Import/Export.

2. Click the Segmentation Upload operation.

3. On the File Import/Export tab Browse to find the file. Then click Submit. You will be taken back to the Operation Log tab to view the progress of the upload. Click Refresh to update the screen to see if
