Recurring gifts

When a donor with a recurring gift provides you with a new credit card number, how do you update the number on the existing recurring gift?  Do you have to terminate the existing recurring gift and enter a new recurring gift?

I'm assuming you are talking about a recurring gift that you process the payments for, not net community, etc. (I'm not sure how those work.)


In RE, go to the recurring gift record, not a payment. This is where you need to make the change in card info. It can be entered here or on the bio 2 tab of the donor's record and then selected as the card to use on the recurring gift record. We record all card #s on the bio 2 tab - just our procedure - and then select for the gift record. 


You do not need to terminate or enter a new recurring gift.
