Why does my query time out?

Sometimes, complex queries against a large database and / or at peak usage times will take a very long time to run (1/2 hour or so). When this occurs, you will find that the time to run the query exceeds your browser time out, and you will not be able to run the query in the normal manner.

To get around this issue, find the query and do not run it. Instead, click the Use Query button (thumbs up icon), then proceed to create a new group. This will allow the query to run in the background, and you can walk away and check on it later.
