Why are there discrepancies between reports on the number of opened emails?

Occasionally, you might notice that the message opened statistic to be different in the Message Performance report than it is in the Messages Opened report.

The reason why they will sometimes be different is that the message performance report runs based on a task that updates the statistics in the background every 4 hours or so, therefore it will not always be completely current. You can get the most current stats by clicking the 'update statistics' button from the delivery review page, then running the report again, but this may still end up being off by 1 or 2 if more opens are recorded in the time period after you update stats and before you run the report.
