Help with JavaScript/API's in TeamRaiser

I am looking for help getting started accessing the API's for JavaScript.  I have had great success using the API's to bring data into FileMaker, so I know how to formulate them and parse the JSON, but I would love to see some sample code that grabs the raw JSON in JavaScript.  I cannot get the examples shown at http://open.convio.com/api/#main.javascript_crossdomain_library to work.
