Text vs HTML Clickthroughs

Is it possible to track Text and HTML clickthroughs seperately (perhaps by using a source code)?

  • Hey Jeremy,

Actually, text clickthroughs are NOT tracked at all so there is nothing to differentiate (so far as I understand anyway).

HTML clicks are tracked because they are sent through a special URL that looks something like:

    http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=VlKATh1buG7H3t3zql_LTw

TEXT emails will have the actual URL you want people to go to (I think the URLs for HTML above are generated as the email is sent out, so I don't think there is a way to use these).

If you wanted to see how many people were going through TEXT, you could set up a page that you direct the text people to. You might want to establish whether or not this is worth it -- I don't know if there is a way to run a report and see how many people have selected text versus HTML.

    Adrian
