email platform reporting

Hi -

Does anyone know if there is an email platform report in Convio? Is this even possible?

If no, does anyone know approximately a breakdown of email platforms for a general nonprofit email campaign?

We are trying to figure out how many of our house file addresses use Office 2007.

Though I don't think there's a report that give you exactly what you are asking for out of the box, you can probably use one of the existing Email Campaign Reports to give you some of the information you need.

First you'll need to create some groups for the major email platforms that you want to track. For example, you may want to find out the stats for people with email addresses at:

yahoo.com

msn.com/hotmail.com

gmail.com

For each of these you can create query generated groups that automatically refresh and contain criteria like "Email contains yahoo.com"

Once the groups have been generated, then you can use a report like the Group Performance Report to get stats on the Number Sent, Hard Bounced, Soft Bounced, delivered, etc for each of the email platforms that you've generated groups for.

Convio uses Return Path reports with seed accounts they've set up for some of the major ISPs. Generally, you won't see these reports unless you ask your account rep for them. But they will share them at your request.

There are other companies that will sell you this service complete with detailed reports and the options to see how your email will appear across different platforms but you may not want to pay for them if you can get the Return Path reports from your Account Rep for free. But if you want to look into it, a reputable company to look into would be Habeas. They had a developed relationship with Get Active before they merged with Convio and have actually had discussions about offering a similar deal to Convio but I think that idea was cancelled.
