Third party fulfillment?

I'm curious to hear the experience(s) of others who use eCommerce and also use a third party fulfillment service. For example, do you grant the third party access to Convio in order to generate reports, etc? Or do you prepare the reports and send them to the third party on a regular basis? Or something else? Any caveats worth sharing?
