Mailto subject lines

This may be an obvious question - but I'm finding it impossible to add subject lines to a mailto address in the WYSWYG editor. I've tried from both the source side and the "normal" side, but every time I save - WYSWYG adds the entire text of the mailto to what is displayed (so rather than just displaying rsvp @ rsvp.com, for example, it displays mailto:rsvp@rsvp.com?subject=RSVPing. What am I missing?
