Switching to Delayed Self-Pledge

Options
Hello Community,

My organization is thinking about switching to use the delayed self-pledge for our annual walk fundraiser. Does anyone have pros/cons to using this application in TeamRaiser?

Thank you for your input!

  • I've posted about this a few times. We've been using DSP for years.

The new one is nice, because it uses your registration fee transaction as the first payment of a two part sustaining gift - the second payment being the unmet fundraising balance. (This is how you have their card info in order to charge them.) This "hold open" payment used to be done after registering with a nominal $1.00 charge on a separate form, which of course no one would do without getting begged and then threatened. However that means there must be a reg fee, no more 100% discounts* for anyone registering with a DSP enabled Participant Type. Also the primary pays the DSP charge for themselves and any secondary registrations they create when registering. Fine for parents and kids, not so great with a boss paying for secondary staff registrations or somethign like that.

There's also a nice UI for adjusting balances and committing the final charge. (It used to be done with CSV exports and imports.)

There are also a few other minor annoyances. You can't adjust the fundraisign goal of anyone using the DSP on the backend.I don't think you can update card info on a DSP transaction.

So mostly good, with a few downsides.

    * I posted a way to offer 100% discounts previously using a hidden participant type and a promo code, but its a bit of a pain and of course those don't get DSP charges.
