We are n00bs to this new world, and I would love some inspirational.... Can I see the BBNC email you're most proud of? How does the email builder compare with something like mailChimp or MyEmma?

Thanks!

    Thanks!

I got a good giggle from "n00bs," lol. I love this discussion and am excited to see examples as well!

  • Hi Jessica,

As both a customer and now as a consultant, I've been desiging/programming responsive emails for NetCommunity, MailChimp, Emma, etc since 2011. This means I've had my hands in nearly every tool & have experience moving email templates into BBNC and helping clients move templates out of BBNC to Emma/MailChimp/etc. My personal take on the tools:
    • BBNC email certainly has it's challenges, but I've been able to do anything/everything in BBNC that I can do in other email marketing services. I'm not saying it's easy or that you never have to look at code, but since it's integrated with RE I feel BBNC email provides major ROI. There's no drag/drop functionality with BBNC so you'll need someone to program templates for you to use. *There are many updates/upgrades to the email functionality so this may be something coming in future upgrades.
    • MailChimp - If you don't know code or would prefer to NOT look at code, then the drag/drop functionality of Mailchimp is far & away the easiest for the average user. You'll still need to know some code, but it's much more user friendly than some.
    • Emma - I'm not a fan of Emma. There are a lot of limitations with regards to design unless you are a coding expert or utilize their programmers & that's not always budget-friendly and sometimes you have to wait a while for updates/changes.
I have several samples of templates I've programmed over the years & I'm experimenting with new designs/functionality with the updgrades to the latest email editor. If you'll send me an email (rebecca@nonprofitgarden.com) or post your email address I'm happy to send you a zip file with several samples. These work with both the new & old email editor & are all responsive. Meanwhile - I'm attaching a PDF of a more complicated design for an enews style email.

Thanks so much Rebecca! I sent you an email. We currently use MyEmma and we like it okay, but we do have a donor communications manager who is sort of a wiz with designing things and can handle looking at some code. The integration with RE is definitely the most exciting part of the change for us!
