Inaccurate Delivery Stats

Options
We sent an email recently, and I reached out to everyone marked as a bounce (soft or hard) in NetCommunity. Once constituent forwarded the email right back to me, saying "Is this the email you say I didn't get?" It was sent and opened, even though BBNC marked it as bounched ("SOFT - BOUNCE FILTERS MATCHED MESSAGE BODY").

  • I see the message reported a bounce on 9/20, but was opened by the constituent today on 9/26. The bounce messages are entirely controlled by the recipient's mail server. It seems the recipient's mail server reported a bounce, but still allowed the message to be delivered.
Does anyone else have experience with delivery stats being inaccurate? Particularly concerning are potential false positives, where a message claims to be delivered/opened, but really wasn't.

Thanks!
