NetCommunity update - adding links to images

Options
We just had the NetCommunity update installed. It doesn't seem that we are able to add links (urls) to images. For instance to have a Register Now button. It will only apply the link to text.

Am I missing something? Is that not do-able anymore?

Thanks!

  • Hi Michaela,

You can still link to images, it's just harder. A LOT harder in some cases. Here's what I've discovered:
    • The "upgraded" editor has a bug (that's what I'm calling it) in it that won't allow you to select an image by just clicking on it. You actually have to place the cursor to the left of the image and then drag your mouse to the right in order to select. You know the image is selected when you see the white boxes at each corner. If the image is highlighted blue, it's not truly selected and linking won't work. For some of my clients I have to select with cursor to the left and for some it works better selecting from the right. No rhyme or reason - I think the structure of the code determines what will work best. Trial & error...
    • The editor likes to move your links OUTSIDE of the paragraph tags making your images linked for some email readers & not for others. This has been an issue for the BBNC editor (old & new) in email and on web pages for at least 2 years. The only way to fix this is to go into the code & see where your link code is at. Make sure it's nested INSIDE the paragraph tags or those links won't work for Outlook users.
Things I've also noticed that may help you overcome the new editors hiccups:
    • If your image is floated or is aligned to left or right with text wrapping around it...your image will NEVER select, leaving you the only option of diving into the code for linking.
    • Images embedded in a table are harder to select so be patient with yourself & BBNC.
    • The new editor is altering code without your knowledge so Outlook isn't displaying as well as it used to historically so be sure to test. A Lot.
Several users have put in notes of problems/requests for fixing the new editor in this discussion: https://community.blackbaud.com/forums/compose/reply/351/35124/null. Feel free to chime in with your struggles - the more who speak up, the quicker we may get the fix!
  • Thank you for your helpful response! I really appreciate it.
