Events Module & Event Registration Form - using appeals to track

I am fairly new to my organization and have been tasked with creating some different types of event registration forms on BBNC. One of the things it looks like we used to do was track people/orgs that registered for exhibitor slots in Appeals. With the new Events Registration form, you can automatically populate a fund in that registration, but not an appeal. 


Has anyone found a way around this other than manually adding the appeal once the registration gift is in RE?

  • First, let me ask a question, do the exhibitor slots have a fee?  If not, then I don't think it can add put anything onto the appeal.  But assuming yes.....In our organization, for events, it is often a one-to-one relationship between the fund and the appeal.  So for example, we have BIG EVENT 2015, BIG EVENT 2016 as the appeals, the fund is always the same.  So if you link the fund to the appeal in FUND setup that the current appeal is the default, any gifts coming into RE from BBNC should automatically default to that appeal.  If it is not one-to-one, then it might have to be entered/overridden in the gift when it comes into RE.

    As a Hospital foundation we have a lot of funds (one for every unit of the Hospital, and then some). However, we do not use event-specific funds. A number of events would fundraise for the Cancer Fund, a few more for the Cardiac Fund, etc. It's the best way to keep things organized.


    It would save us a lot of time when processing registrations if the Appeal would automatically populate when it's moving from BBNC to RE.


    I'm going to add this to the idea forum, if it's not already there. If this is something you would like, I encourage you to find it there and vote for it to be worked on :) Hopefully they figure this out and add it to a future update! It's silly that it's not already a feature.

    I build a batch template to intake those transactions.  The appeal is set as a default in that batch.  I bulk my transactions and use the batch template each time I bring transactions of that type into RE.

  • It is also not available for membership forms, would be great to have there too!
