We have both Raisers Edge and TeamRaiser. We use the Raisers Edge Luminate Online plugin to sync.


How do you enter Organizational gifts made on behalf a participant or team?

The TeamRaiser Gift documentation will walk you through entering an Organization Gift made on behalf of a participant or team. For help with entering Organization Gifts from Luminate Online into Raiser's Edge, you can check out Knowledgebase Article 101411.

Unfortunately I think Luminate forgot about this part of fundraising and data entry!  Both as corporate donations and sponsorship. Organization records don't sync up to Luminate and they don't sync down to RE.  The current process is just plain stupid.  To enter an organization record you have to create the organization in Luminate.  But then when you go to enter the donation and select the organization, it now asks you for a contact for that organization.  Now how many people have contacts for organization who send a check in supporting someone and include a contact's information.  None that I receive.  So now I have to create a fake contact so I can continue on to add the donation.  Since this does not sync down to  RE.  I now go in to RE and add the organization in my batch.  Time wasted!


The other option is to add the organization in luminate as an individual, enter the information and add the donation.  When it comes down into the connector and you process the bio and donation, you can then go in the record in RE and convert to an organization.  Another waste of time.


Until Luminate decides to make organization records a part of fundraising in Luminate or Teamraiser, these seem to be the only options.  Makes no sense and so frustrating.

Hi Kent!


Thanks for the email.  I watched the video and didn't see anything about organization and sponsorship records, just pretty new dashboard.  What is Luminate Beta?  Is it something else we have to purchase or is it an upgrade for Luminate Online?  I just wish Blackbaud would address all the other data entry issues in Luminate and TeamRaiser.  Dashboards don't do it for me unless the meat of the software is easy to navigate and use.  Yes, I have several suggestions in the ideas system.  I also have a long list of TeamRaiser donation and registration issues that would make data entry easy.  I've been doing this for 20 years now and I see these software programs getting more sophisticated with their flashing reports, dashboards, etc., but seem to forget what we really want and that is a product that makes my job easier, not more complicated and time consuming.  I just wish they would get it right!  I miss Sphere and its simplicity for data entry for donations and registrations, updating records, search for duplications and being able to merge them on the spot, reporting and syncing to RE.  Wish they would have built around that!


Sorry, just frustrated!  Thanks for all you help with my other issues.

Agreed. Data entry for Organizations and Sponsors is challenging. Initially, i entered org as individuals and didn't realize the effect it would have in Raisers Edge- total giving from a org is totally off. At some point, I'll need to clean up these LO Individual|Orgs


I now have Organizations enabled. I know it'll take longer to process, and it's a way to avoid LO Individual|Orgs. So now, after reading your comment, contact is a required function??? and, you have to create fake contacts... that isn't efficiant. I'm just not looking forward to the process. Syncing, or lack of, has become a bigger challenge than anticipated.


I never used Sphere. Maybe it's a good thing, otherwise I might be more frustrated.
