Magic Links complete documentation

Options
I would like a complete list of all the "magic links" supported in donation forms in Online Express.  I am trying to create a link to somone else's form; I am not its author, so I don't have the luxury of looking at the "more tricks with magic links" tab mentioned in the how-to video, which seems to be the only documentation for this feature in existence.

  • Hi Joshua,

Here is a link to documentation on Magic Links. You will need access to the Online Express form in order to copy the parameter to add to the end of the URL. I hope this helps!
  • It is precisely that form to which I do not have access, which is why I'm asking for a list. So far it seems like the only query variables are BBFund, BBHideOtherFunds, and BBGiftAmount. Since I don't own the site which embeds the donation form, I can't use a JavaScript hook to pre fill anything.

Are there any other query variables besides the three I listed?
  • Hi Joshua,

BBOX donation forms currently support the following five query string parameters (a.k.a. magic links):
    • BBGiftAmount
    • BBPledgeAmount (if the form has pledge giving enabled)
    • BBHideOtherGifts
    • BBFund
    • BBHideOtherFunds
  • Rats.  I was really hoping for (at least) tribute
    gift support.

  • I know this thread is old, but I was hoping someone knew how to use magic links to select the 'Other' field.

I can do all the dollar amounts, but have been racking my brain to get the 'Other' field set as a parameter.

Any one know how to do this? It doesn't say it in the magic links video, but looks like its possible if I had the right parameter name.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil
  • Hi Phil Nawrocki‍. You unfortunately can't target setting an "other" amount using magic links. You can only target one of the prescribed giving levels you've set for your form. But note (in case you hadn't come across this yet) that you can hide the other giving levels. For example to direct a donor to a form that's pre-set to receive a gift of $50 and show no other gift amount options, you'd use the URL parameters like this:

    BBGiftAmount=50&BBHideOtherGifts=1

    Hopefully that helps. Thanks!

  • Thanks for getting back to me Chris Martin‍

    That is good to know.

In what scenario do orgs do something like that? I would think you would want the other tiers to see if someone would up their gift if they saw an option too.

    Thanks,

    Phil
  • Did you ever find out how?

?BBFund=0 will choose Other, but the field that it brings up is going to be empty and I don't know what parameter would be used to pass anything into it.
