Mail Merge Tools

We’re in the beginning steps of trying to streamline our processing of acknowledgements. I’d love to get us set up using a mail merge tool and I’m familiar both with the Standard Salesforce mail merge tool (and it’s limitations) as well as Drawloop (which I implemented at my last organization).

 

However, since I’m new to the LO/LCRM suite as well as the non-profit side of Salesforce in general, I’m treading carefully as I don’t want to get us halfway implemented and run into a roadblock, or get us implemented only to discover that we could have used the embedded Luminate Utilities that we are already paying for.  

 

Has anyone used either of the luminate mail merge utilities or a third party tool like drawloop or conga composer? It sounds as though the luminate utilities have similar issues in that they have to be used with Internet Explorer and an older version of Office
