Tracking planned giving in Raiser's Edge.

We are trying to decide the best way to track planned giving within Raiser's edge.  Can others tell me what has worked and not worked well for their organizations.

  • Does you organization have "Planned Gift" as a gift type? I once worked at an organization that didn't have that option and never found a good way to track it. Maybe in notes? Otherwise, if you do have "Planned Gift", the only addition I made was placing all documentation in the Media Tab
  • I believe there's more detail in the other thread referenced with the link, but as mentioned before - the 'planned gift' type is only available if you have PlannedGift Tracker which is a module you have to pay for.  



    Many of us started before the module was available or didn't know the module existed (BB doesn't do a great job at marketing this) - but I think there are a number of ways referenced (again in the other thread) which work quite well at tracking the planned giving information.  It is also dependent on the size of your organization and number of planned gifts you're trying to track, which approach you might take.  I think the best option is to have PlannedGift Tracker, but if not there are some viable options.
