Formatting Question

I have a large amount of text that is left aligned and need one word centered on a separate line. When I click "Enter" to start a new line, everything from then on automatically becomes centered as well. I want the text after the centered word to go back to being left aligned.

  • Can you clarify what part of Online Express you're working in for this? Donation forms or Email messages?
  • Email messages. Here's what they had to say:

I'm sorry but Online Express does not have the option to change the alignment of one line of text in a text box. It only has the ability to change the alignment of all the text in the box. This is done by hovering over the text box section and selecting 'Click to Style.' In this menu, you can then select the desired 'alignment.'

    Hi Kelly.

You should be able to adjust the alignment from the text editor. I was able to produce (I think) the outcome you were looking for:

I was able to accomplish this by typing all of the text first, highlighting the text to be centered, then using the alignment tool on the text editor to center that text.

Let me know if this helps or if there are still issues.
  • Thanks Matt. The issue occurs when I copy/paste a large amount of text to be edited within Online Express. We produce a weekly e-mail so it's faster to copy/paste. If I copy/paste into Microsoft Word first and remove all of the formatting THEN paste into Online Express it seems to work. Just a frustrating second step. There's just a lot of little glitches with Online Express like when I try to change the font, it resorts back to "font family". I have to click "Ariel" multiple times and each time I click it, it seems to change the font size and style. Another issue, when I try and change the font size, I could click "size 14" twenty times and each time it changes it to a much bigger or smaller font size or just removes the font style altogether. Just some glitches hopefully that will be worked out by the next update.

Thanks for the extra information here!

Copy/paste from Word is really handy, but it's tricky to handle; Word and online text editors tend to be at odds around formatting.

This is an area we know is important, and while we don't have an update for this area on the next release - we are planning on making iterative updates to the text editor as we move forward. Feedback like this helps us identify potential problems and areas to focus on, so thanks again!
  • Matt is there an idea post somewhere to vote on interest in the above comment? I just spent an impressive amount of time trying to format an e-mail marketing piece to look like the Word document that was sent to me. I got it close but it took an unreasonable amount of time. Recognizing Word and online text editors don't get along, I have the uptmost faith you all can figure something out. :-)

Hi Nike. You can certainly "+1" this topic and we will keep track of it. As you alluded to, Word and web content don't really get along. We are looking into updating the text editor, but the ability to copy/paste an entire email layout and content from Word probably isn't on the near horizon.

I would love to learn a little more about if there were any particular elements that were especially time consuming to recreate in BBOX. I'll follow up with an email with some more questions.
