Where is E-mail Marketing pulling the e-mail address from?

Options
Our e-mail addresses are a bit of a mess. We have fields titled E-mail-1 Number, E-mail-2 Number, E-Mail 3 Number, E-Mail Number, Email Number, Email-2 Number, and Email-3 Number. This is an issue I inhereited and am working to clean up, but at this point I don't remember what the original field should be.

Our most populated field is "E-mail Number" and this seems to be where the E-mail Marketing tool is pulling from. For the purposes of the e-mail blast I'm working on, I would like it to pull anything that looks like an e-mail as we want to e-mail to every e-mail address we have on file. Our blast would be more in the 100+ range instead of the 39 I'm getting now. Possible?

Hi Nike. You have some flexibility around how BBOX draws email addresses from RE. Visit the Integration Options window from the Account menu in the upper right, then Integration Options. Note, you must be an RE supervisor user to access Integration options. From the Integration Options menu, select "Email mapping".

From here, you can select a primary, secondary, and tertiary email type that BBOX will use when mailing to constituents. BBOX will automatically select the highest email address in the hierarchy for each constituent and mail to that address.

For example, lets say you map "E-mail Number", "E-mail-1 Number", and "E-Mail-2 Number" as primary, secondary and tertiary. Let's say John Doe has an email in "E-mail Number" and Jane Doe has an email in "E-mail-2 Number". BBOX would automatically send to both John and Jane's email addresses, even though they are mapped differently.

There is also an option at the bottom of this screen to send to ALL the mapped email types. This would send the message to each mapped email address that a consistent has on their record. Generally we don't recommend you use this option, as people may get annoyed at receiving the same email multiple times.
  • Hi Matt,

This is a good place to start! I am the supervisor so am able to get to the place you are talking about. The only e-mail types that show up in my list are "E-mail" and "E-mail 2" (which I assume match "E-mail Number" and "E-mail 2 Number") so my deduction is those other e-mails are not coded as e-mail types.

Yup, you are exactly right. The mapped email addresses in BBOX must be email address phone types.

You can see this in RE from:

Config > Tables > Phone types
