Appeals

Just downloaded email appeal results- very excited to have that level of analytics. But, I received an error because a record was open but it does not tell me which record. Would that be possible in a future enhancement? And oddly, it said it downloaded about 15 more results that I had constituents. What would contribute to that?

Hi Tina. That is a good suggestion, I agree it would be much more helpful if the error message specified which record(s) were open. We will look into that.

As for the record count, could it be possible that you are sending to multiple email types? This could result in more email addresses than constituents.
  • Thanks Matt. Yes, similar to when you run an import in RE the exceptions will show which constituent records were open.

Yes, that would make sense as we send to 2 emails if they have them. Does the appeal go on to the record for each email address?

Yes, each email address will get it's own appeal. The appeal will specify the email address that took the action, check the "Comments" column of the appeal.

Hi Tina. I brought this issue up with the team and I have some good news. In the most recent update, you may have noticed that we improved the performance of how long it takes to add the appeal data to RE.

One of the added benefits of that improvement that I wasn't aware of is that the appeal data will now be added regardless if a record is open in another instance of RE. The next time the record(s) in question are opened, the new appeal data should be there - no warnings or errors!
  • I have searched for an answer to my question, but this conversation comes the closest.

I am adding the e-blast appeals to constituent records from the OLX module and it works great. What I would like to do is to query any constituent who received the e-blast and include the results in the output.

When I query off of the Appeal ID, I do not get any results. The e-blast in question was not a solicitation, so I am wondering if querying on an appeal only gives a response if there's a gift in the record associated with that appeal.

Otherwise, it's possible that I am not querying the data correctly. :)

    Thank you!

Hi Debra. I'm far from an RE query expert, but here is what I found, hopefully it's helpful. I sent a message with the subject "Test message 3" that was sent to myself. I then made a query that looked like this:

Criteria: Assigned Appeal Description equals "Test message 3"

Output: First name, Last name, Assigned Appeal Response (just to test it)

These were the results I see:

  • Thanks Matt! That's it.

This will be useful in looking at specific constituent results in email blasts.
  • You can also query on the response if you only want those that opened or make a donation etc.
  • Thanks Tina. Yes, now I see lots of ways to use the e-blast information. For one, we need to clean up duplicate emails that were sent because of the recent Phone fields upgrade. Now I can see who received duplicate emailings by querying on the Assigned Appeals.

I did not realize that the query category "Assigned Appeals" was the way to access appeals not associated with a gift record.
