Can I universally change the existing constituent id?

Can I universally change the existing constituent id? To distinguish existing IDs from IDs we are importing from another system I would like to prefix/append the existing Constituent ID with an integer like "111" (i.e. If the current Constituent ID = 987456 I want to make it 111987456)

Hi Kevin, This can actually be done pretty easily. If you use the Create Import File function in a Constituent Import, you can select the following fields: Import ID (constituent), Constituent ID, Last Name, Organization Name, and Key Indicator. Clicking the Create Now button in the lower right corner will export the file. You can make the changes you describe to the Constituent ID column values. Then you can use the Update existing records option with your updated file to change all of the Constituent IDs. Of course, before performing any change of this magnitude, you should have a current back up and asking others to log out of Raiser's Edge prior to the update will reduce the likelihood of exceptions due to records being open. Happy Friday, Naomi
