Gift Code

Hi Please anybody  would like to share with me how the Gift code field is used in RE. As I am planning to intruduce this field to our users. Any guidance will be great.

How it's used at your org is up to you/your org. It's one of the few fields that you can use how ever you choose.

For a number of years we did not use it at all. When our exec asked for a report by some specific breakdowns that are really not recorded anywhere else on gift record or attributes, I chose this field and created a table for data entry. It's a field on my batch template so super easy to enter whenever needed. 

So, based on my experience, when you need it to record data that's not elsewhere, use it.  Until then, wait.

Answer This field is used to further define the gift. You can use this for any special information you wish to track. Examples may include recognition gifts or awards for giving. It could also be used to indicate if the gift is a result of a membership, event or tribute or if the gift was a trust, bequest, annuity, insurance gift, etc. Essentially, it is a free table to further define the gift in any way.
