Using RE in Parallels - PDF Documents

Hello - I am using a Mac and Windows is operating in sync with the use of Parallels. When I try to add a PDF document from my desktop to a media tab in Raiser's Edge, the file is automatically converted from a PDF to an Adobe Distiller file. Once this occurs, I am unable to reopen the newly uploaded PDF document from the constituent's record. How do I stop the conversion from happening? Thank you. Liz
