Using the membership module to track donor wall constituents

Just wondering if anyone has used the membership module to track donor wall information.  We currently are tracking this information through constituent code and also through attributes as they have the ability to change levels on the wall.  But just wondering what your thoughts were on the membership piece - if anyone has done it, what they thought, the pros and cons you've run into.
