Mainting sort order when using "One Of" in Criteria

Options

Is there a way to have query maintain the order in a criteria field that uses "one of"?

ie I have a list of donors in a certain order  but not alpha or any other normal sort order so I input them the order I want in the "One Of" Constituent ID but the query results do not maintain that order. I tried using an export to see if that list would be in the order I entered but that also fail.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not that I know of.  Is there possibly another field like date of _____ that you could add to your query sort to get the order you want.  Just a thought.

And export generally uses the order that comes from the query.

Thanks for the reply JoAnn. It is unfortunate to not have that functionality in Query.

    Hi Erin,

Are the Constituent IDs in numerical order in your spreadsheet that you are copy/pasting from? If so, then you can copy those IDs and use the 'one of' feature in query. Then, as the Sort field, you will want to select the field for ConsID. If the IDs are not in any particular order in your spreadsheet, then unfortunately, there will not be a way to sort in the same order.

Just to make note, if no sort order is specified in a query, then the results will output in the order of their System Record ID. And just as JoAnn stated, the export that includes the query, will then output in the same sort as the query.

     I hope this is helpful.

The ConsID are not in a particular order. I did a work around in excel inserting a row started at 1 for the first record then 2 and so on down the list. I then could sort by last name but always have that row that I could to resort them once they came out of the query.
