Is it possible to compare the Spouse Last Name with the primary constituent Last Name?

Options

Because of some quirks in the way our old database worked, people with a joint membership for my organization were marked as spouses in RE when we switched over, even if they were unrelated.

In order to correct this, I'm trying to make a list of all spouses which have a different last name than the primary constituent.  However, structuring a query to search for this is proving to be tricky, since I can't figure out a way to compare these fields directly, rather than querying for a specific value.

I asked BB how I could accomplish this, and received this response:

    Hi Jacob,

It is possible to find those constituents who's spouses have different last names. It will involve some manual work with a formula in Excel, but it is possible. I have included more information below in the following Knowledgebase solution:

How to create a query of records that have a spouse or other relationship with a different last name or the same last name

For Step 1, create a constituent query, I would suggest you simply query on any record that has a spouse. Here is some example criteria:

New Constituent query with dynamic format:

    Criteria:

Spouse > Spouse Information > Name not blank.

Use this criteria and output the following fields in order:

    Constituent Information > Constituent ID

    Constituent Information > Last name

Spouse > Spouse Information > Last Name

Export the query results in CSV format.

Continue with the directions in the above solution and use the formula to sort your exported data. Once you have the group of constituents in your spreadsheet, you can then create a query using the list of Constituent IDs using Import.
