Address - Switch Automatically

Options

Hello,

My organization is trying to find out the best practice to have an address field switch automatically. We have tried to utilize the alternate address field and the seasonal address field; however, this does not work. For example, we have donors who are purchasing a gift membership and would like to have it mailed to their address for the holiday rather than the recipient of the membership. Our memberships are for a full year, so when the membership is up for renewal we can automatically pull list that have the receipients address/primary address rather than the donor's address. Is this possible? If so, what can we utilize so it may switch automatically.

Thank you!

Unlike other programs the address does not "switch" in the way you think it does. But seasonal addresses do work.

Add the address they are at primarily and mark it as the primary address

Add the seasonal address, check the seasonal checkbox and add the dates that they are at that address annually. (only day and month)

When pulling mailing lists - use Mail and be sure when setting up the individual address to check the box to "consider seasonal addresses..."

If you are pulling lists from Export - use address processing to allow you to consider seasonal addresses.

Never pull lists from query or query lists - it is not designed to process addresses.

Thank you for this information. We took this information into consideration. We currently do not utilize the Mail option in R.E. as we use an external mailhouse that does this process for us when we pull list. We decided used the secondary address field in this case which helped for our purpose but will utilize the suggestion above in the future.

Once again, thank you for your help!
