Gifts for FY noting constituency code-but don't want duplicate gifts

Options
I am trying to run a query for a past fiscal year of all gifts but I also want the constituency codes for that donor listed. However, everything I try to run will duplicate a single gift for EACH constituency code we have them assigned to (some have as many as 10). Any way to list a single gift and all 4 or 5 constituencies they are associated with?

The query output screen is not a report it is a grouping tool. It will duplicate things - therefore it is not a reliable way to ever report.

If you do this as an Export this is not a problem. (use a query isolate only those with gifts in the FY and add that query to the "include" section of Export.)

If you do a constituent export, you can get one row per person and either a sum total of what they gave in the year and all of their constituencies in different columns, or all of the gifts they made in separate columns AND all of their constituencies in different columns.

If you do a gift export, you will get one row per gift (if someone has multiple gifts they will be in different rows) and all of the constituencies can be in different columns but be sure to get constituent constituency not gift constituency.

I agree with Melissa and tell people that query is a grouping tool only all the time.  (except with my accountants)

Sometimes - especially gift queries - are just what you need when reconciling.  :)

If you use the gift query and constituency code (under the Gift Information instead of the Constituent), you will not get duplicates.

If you  are using a constituent query, you should most likely run this through an export as Melissa suggests, but you can look at Primary Constituent code as well - which will pull in the top code only.

I replied the way I did because Jamie said they WANTED to see all 4-5 codes if they have them, just not in different rows.

    a) gift consituency is only completed IF you filled it in on gift entry and is only ONE of the many codes the constituent has.

    b) primary constituency is again only one of the many codes a constituent may have.
