Query for constituency code for specific campaign!

Options

I am trying to pull constituency code "past parents" who gave gifts in the 11-12 year.  I worry when I pull that it is taking const. that are designated as Past Parents NOW but in 11-12 they were maybe just Parents.  Is there a way to limit a constituency code pull to a particular campaign?

Right now I am putting in the 11-12 Campaign AND Const. code Past Parents.

 Thank you for any responses!!

Do you have start dates on your constituent codes in the records?  if so, you should be able to use them to limit which "past parents" you want to have i your query results.

if you don't have start dates, did you enter a "past parents" as the constituency on the gift records (see gift record, Miscellaneous tab).  If so, you should be able to query on that, I think.

Questions to answer so we can better help:

Do you put the constituency code on the gifts?

Do you use start and end dates on your constituency code.

What is the "pull for" - what are you reporting on? Giving by past parents in a particular year?

Thanks so much.  Unfortunately, no dates were added to the const. codes.  Makes things harder...

Thanks so much for your reply!   Everyone is so helpful!

    To answer the questions:

No CC on gifts and no dates on past parents code.  It seems they put dates on some codes but not on others.  Adjusting to new system.

I work for a school and the pull is for past parent who gave during the 11-12 school year.  But it is pulling for all past parent designations even though some that are past parents now were parents only in 11-12.  Does that make sense?

    Thanks for your time!

Yes - it unfortunately make sense. But what they are asking you to do, they apparently did not track. If it is not stored in the database, you can not pull it. It is like they asked you to sort everyone by shoe size but no one ever put shoe size in the records!

    That's a great analogy!

Thanks so much for helping me sort through the problem.  I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

    Have a lovely evening!

You may have some success trying this...... Create a GIFT query. Filter= Gift Information/Constituency=Past Parents; Gift date between XXXXX and XXXXX (your FY dates). Output name. Gifts have a gift constituency code attached to them (based on what the person's constituency code was when you recorded the gift.) This may help.....

Lisette - gifts only have a constituency code on them if it was entered on them. Shannon already answered above that they have not been entering the constituency codes on the gifts.
