 Earlier this year, several people in our office thought it would be best to merge together two corporate records to clean things up in Raiser's Edge. So we followed the Knowledge Base instructions to do so. We deleted the record that was merged into the other record. Is it possible to reverse this and get them back as two separate records? These same people now want it this way.

    NOPE. When you merge I believe you are warned that this can not be undone.

    The only option I think you have is to go back to a backup from before the merge (while no one is in the system) and export the information from each of the two separate records and try to re-create the two records separately. It could be a lot of work if the records contained extensive information.

    No.

    As Melissa said you could possibly pull the info from a back up file if you have one from that time period.  Probably easier to just create new record and enter/remove/adjust data as needed. 

    If you do load the back up make sure you get the info exported quickly and then re-load your current back up.  If you have a lot of users no one can do any work in RE until you're back on current files. :)

     Nope -- RE does not let you un-merge a file.  I have been know to have to recreate a file or two myself, so now only I can merge and delete files.
