Facebook App on Facebook Page?

Options

I've added our application to our Facebook page and there is a section that shows on the page, but it says "No content to display." What should be feeding into this and how can i get it to work?

Any thoughts?

  • We'll have to look into this. Because Facebook came out with Pages after we had built our application, and Facebook doesn't always concern itself with how their changes impact existing apps, there may be some tweaks Convio needs to make in order to make this work properly. Stay Tuned.

  • The issue is that pages are kind of like users in Facebook, but not exactly like users. It's possible to push FBML to the application section of a page the same way that we do to user profile pages, but the pages do not pick up the default FBML that you specified when you created the application. This means that we are going to need to add a feature to push the content to the page the first time that we see someone view a page that has the application on it.

    This came up after we closed the door on the Mt. Tam release, so I won't be able to get the feature added until the next scheduled release. One thing that I was wondering is what you would want to show when the application is added to a page. The user profile section is designed to show personalized content (like gifts received or actions taken) as well as the "impersonal" content that goes into the reference page. Would you want to show the same reference content on a facebook page as on a user profile? What about some content or stats that is specific to the "fans" of the page?

    That's a good question. I would think that we would want to show:

    a) some static content to "sell" the application.

    "Now your a fan --> add this application to do X, Y and/or Z"

    I think we'd want this to be specific for the fan page.

    b) show the latest activity of some sort, but more community focused -- some possibilities:

    top 3 gifts?

    most acted upon actions?

    last 3 people to add the application?
