Recruiting and Coaching Email Templates

Options

Hi ALA team,

Taylor let me know there were some questions about the Email Outline and Templates that I provided for the Go! program, and I wanted to offer you a place to ask questions.

Here's a quick overview...

The Walk and Climb Recruitment emails are 6 messages you can use to send to past and prospective participants to get them to sign up.  I've tried to incorporate a variety of motivators - mission, personal accounts, and personal challenge - to target different types of prospects.

The Walk and Climb Fundraising e-mails include 9 messages that can be used to coach registered participants to use the Participant Center tools to complete their fundraising.  These messages include conditional content and personalization, so we can make the message as poignant as possible to each participant.  Again, I've leveraged different motivators, like the fundraising minimum for climb and personal stories of people affected by lung disease, to reach a variety of audiences.

These e-mails are being built out as templates in the Walk and Climb TeamRaiser blueprints, and are therefore automatically available to you in the "Coaching Email" section of your TeamRaiser.  I prefer to use Coaching e-mails instead of Email campaigns for several reasons:

1. We can quickly and easily provide you a template that will automatically update links and conditional code to suit your event (you don't need to update the links with your event's id number).

2.  The audience targeting and filtering is much easier to use, so you can clearly target the audiences you want (such as "people that have raised under $100," or "people who have sent less than 5 e-mails.)

3. The reporting in Report Writer can quickly and easily show how well your e-mails are performing.

Again, please reply to this post if you have questions or concerns about this approach!

Thanks,

Noel

  • I can see that emails have been added to the coaching section - but I do not see that the recruitment emails have been added to any fy 12 campaigns.  Can you clarify where the recruitment emails will be housed?  thanks.

    Hi Kathlene,

Because we put the coaching emails in the blueprint, you should be able to use them any any of your events created from the blueprint.  We intended the coaching emails to be sent out with the coaching email tools in TeamRaiser, as opposed to within Email > Email Campaigns.

    Does that help?

  • Is there a way to copy a message from one TeamRaiser section to another? For example, our Cincinnati Climb email is ready to send and I want to send a similar version to Detroit and Cleveland. Normally in campaigns I would just make a copy. I can't figure out a way to do this.

    Thanks for your help.

Great question, Mary.  There is not a way to copy a TeamRaiser message (coaching email) and move it or apply it to another TeamRaiser.  But, it is pretty simple to copy the code from your Cincinnati message, paste into a message within your Detroit and Cleveland TeamRaisers and then just update each message (links/images) accordingly.

If you go to the coaching message you have within your Cincinnati TeamRaiser, and you have the WYSIWYG open as if you are editing the message, click on the link in the upper right-hand corner that says "Use Plain Text Editor".  This will turn the wysiwyg off, simply select all of the code you see, copy it and paste it into Notepad.

Take this code and paste it into a coaching email within your other TeamRaisers, turn the WYSIWYG back on by clicking on the wysiwyg icon (see attached screenshot).  You can then use the WYSIWYG to update your text, images and links.
