Golf Outing Registration

Options
I would really like to discuss with anyone that has made a Golf Registration in Net Community. We have been moving all of are registrations into Net Community.  The small events have been going well, except for a few small glitches.  Now we want to setup our golf registration which will have many more components. I saw back in 2013 this question was asked but didn't really see any outcome.

If anyone has some good advise on do's and don'ts it would be appriciated.

  • Kim,

I'm happy to help with any questions you have.

We are currently in the process of accepting online registrations for our Golf Classic through NetCommunity at: http://give.wheelerclinic.org/golfclassic

  • Jennifer,

    Your
registration page(s) are fantastic.  I showed our Alumni
Relations person that is handling the golf out and they would love
our page to look that way.  Of course I can't promise that
because this will be my first time doing this.  With that
being said, can you explain all the parts and pages to me?

    How
did the attributes work for you?  We had some glitches when we
used them for another event, it caused some of our registrants
records to form a guest record with all the attribute information
going into that record.  Moving and deleting was time
    consuming.

    We are
currently running Net Community 7.0.144, what version are you on
and do you know if doing the upgrade will make a difference to any
    issue that you know of?

    We
    appreciate any help.

    Thank
    you,

  • Kim,

We are on the same version of NetCommunity. I'm keeping my eyes on the updates, but haven't noticed any dramatic changes (and, truthfully, we're considering a switch to Online Express because of some other changes to our web presence. So, I may have overlooked something).

We have the events module, but it sounds like you do, too (just a guess with your talk about registrants and guests!). There are issues with the way NetCommunity is set-up, but I've been able to make it work. My events are reasonably sized, so it's not unbearable.

    1. Golfer Registration page: This links directly to the Events module. I'm using an Event Registration Form. Last I knew, we still had to use a Classic form for this. The attributes aren't a problem, but I understand where you might be having glitches with Guests vs. Registrants. It's not a problem for us, because I view those people (being registered by another person or company) as guests of the registrant. I had to adjust a few queries when we switched to NetCommunity, but it wasn't painful. It's more obnoxious that I have to sometimes convert the Registrant from an individual to an organization!

    2. Sponsor Registration page: This is using a standard donation form. Unfortunately, I cannot connect it to an event because there are no actual participants. So, this gets a little wonky. I have to remember to go back and put these people into the Events module. Luckily, it's minimal for us, so it isn't terrible. But, I definitely run a risk of forgetting to put them in the right place.

There have been definitely been request to the Idea Bank to allow us to include ALL sponsorships in the Event Registration Form (including those without participants). It's hard to imagine why they don't think we need to sell ads, tee signs, etc. depending on the event. Plus, it's confusing for donors trying to pledge their support. I've walked a few people through the process.

Is there a reason you need your guests as registrants? If you can work through that, the attribute field works great.

  • Jennifer,

I made two parts, Foursome and Individual golfer(s) using the classic.  I opened a page and put the foursome part in and all that shows up is:

      2016 Golf Outing

No foursome signup.  I picked a template that was on the list because apparently I can't create one or at least I don't know how and the direction were no clear on blackbaud, because when I followed them it seem I still had to use a standard template which is anoying.

If possible can I call you and work through what I am doing wrong. I feel I am pretty tech savvy but I must say this is fustrating me a bit.

  • You have a choice of classic or 'new' registration forms for Golf events. The non-classic event form allows for more streamlined collection of guest/attendee information and attributes, as it displays all on one step vs dropdowns or separate screens per selection.  But even with the classic, you can make the form look good and function well for end users. • Julie,

Thank you.  I managed to figure out how to create the registration page, I only had about a week to figure it out.  They were thrilled, I think it needs some tweaking and have some ideas for future pages, but might need to enlist the help of our computer science teachers for a crash course in coding. I am getting more comfortable with NetCommunity so they should improve.

Please take a look, any feed back is helpful.  https://pingry.thankyou4caring.org/golf/golf-landing-page

    Thank you again,
