"Why was becoming certified important to you and/or your organization?"

It is a nice to have to be Blackbaud Certified - that being said - 15 years of expierence as a RE DBA probably tells more...

LOL - don't know that it matters to my org at all.  Don't think most staff even know unless they happened to see certificate on the wall.

To me, it was just to see if I knew the software.  Do wish there was more info on areas where I missed questions so I could see what it is I don't know/answered incorrectly.  Might be doing some things the hard way.  surprise

Not needed for a resume as I don't plan to re-locate and other orgs using RE in my area is limited.
  • It helps remind me I'm part of something bigger...a group of individuals who care enough and are driven enough to take things to another level.  I brought my team with me on the journey and shared with them how important it is to keep learning, growing and expanding our skills and tool kit.  So when I achieved each level, they were proud to say they have someone certified in the office.  And I certainly am proud and feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to become certified.
  • I think being certified allows me to affirm my skills despite my relative lack of experience and time on the job (2.5 years). I have a lot to learn about the general day to day use of the software but I am happy that once I know how someone wants to use the software, I can find a way to do it!

I agree that it also reminded me that I was a part of something bigger as well!
