Issues with Solicitor and Constituent Codes Exporting properly-7.95

Options

Hi all. We just upgraded to 7.95, which went pretty smoothly except for our custom reports. We used to be able to export assigned solicitors by choosing today's date as Start Date in the export, and it would export only those with a Start date on or after the date in the export. This no longer works and it is seriously affecting many of our reports.

I contacted Blackbaud about it and was given the rather unhelpful answer of "It's been a known issue since 7.94." And the only work around suggested was to "Use the Order By field to adjust the export order without including the Start or End date" This will not work for us at all, since we often have several assigned solicitors of the same type, with different start and end dates.

This is happening with Constituent Codes as well.

Has anyone else experienced this? Have you come up with a work around? We are exporting into .mdb format for use with Crystal.

  • Reporting Assigned Solicitors has been as issue going much farther back than 7.94. I was on the phone with support a few years back because I could not get reports to only list the Primary Solicitor(Solicitor Type "Primary")  even when we gave prior Solicitors the Solicitor Type Prior and said to only report those whith Date To: "Blank".  Blackbaud support and I tried numerous ways and nothing worked.  They went to their supervisors and still nothing.  RE could not just pull the Type nor use the Date from and Date to.  I still have to manually review reports to get the current solicitor.  This is a problem that should be addressed.
  • I have this exact same problem.  We just upgraded to 7.95 and the formula that USED to work perfectly for me, no longer works.  I have numerous custom crystal reports that are available for staff to run any time.  The way it would pull the current solicitors in the export was to sort on "Date From" as descending, and then set "Start Date" as some future date that hasn't occurred yet.  I had it set as 3000-01-01 just for fun.  This allowed the report to work longterm. This would force the export to include only Solicitors with a blank "Date To".  Now it doesn't work. Those exact same parameters now result in zero solicitors being exported. Has anyone else heard of a fix yet that works for a custom crystal report that is to be run by staff (so we can't have them updating parameters every time they run it).

    Ideas anyone?  Thanks a bunch!
  • For Custom Reports I've been Exporting all Solicitors and using formula's and "Command" SQL queries in Crystal Reports to determine who is/was the Primary Solicitor at any particular date (the end user is prompted for the date range to be use in the report).
  • John, Could you email me at abarker@thetrustees.org? I'd like to pick your brain about this.

    Thanks you,

    Amy
