Accumulative Giving Query

Options
Hi all,

Hoping you will be able to give me some guidance on this.

Last year we launched our first telethon campaign, as part of the campaign. We created a society called '1732 Society' named after our founding year to recognise all donors once their accumalitve giving reached £1,732 or over (incl gift aid). This also includes all past donations before the telethon.  My line manager thought she set up a query to pull through everyone who fits the criteria *see below:

But we have found organistions and individuals who haven't come through, and we are currently playing catch up inviting them all to join the society. As the first Society event is in June.

Has anyone else tried to do a query like this or suggestions on another facility within Raisers Edge?

  • You need to look at those who did not come through and see what it is about their giving that makes them not fulfill the query criteria. RE is giving you what you asked for so maybe there is a gift type that you are missing or the like. Maybe the soft credit criteria on the query is not what you want it to be.

If you have a constituent who you think should be in your query and isn't, that's a great time to call Blackbaud. They can screenshare with you and troubleshoot with specifics.
  • Hi Maya,

I don't recognize the "gift gross" summary information you're pulling, though it's possible this may just be because things are worded differently in the British vs America versions of RE. But let's assume this is not the same as Summary for Gifts within a constituent query. Let's just walk through how I would set this up from scratch.
    1. Create a new Constituent query
    2. In Criteria, find "Summary Information"
    3. Oopen the tree for "Summary For Gift" and open "Total Amount of Gifts"
    4. Operater = Greater Than or Equal To, and Value = 1732 (as you did in your example)
    5. in Filter, set up your "gift type" exactly how you've set it up in your example query, but consider whether or not your organization ever receives gifts of stock. If you do, you may want to and stock/property(sold).
    6. Unless you have a habit of entering gifts with no gift date, then the "gift date not blank" section is unnecessary
That should get you everything you need, assuming the UK version uses the same naming conventions as the US version. If this is nonsense to you, then we'll have to wait for another UK user to respond, or I'd recommend jumping onto chat support to see if an analyst can troubleshoot this with you.
  • The one thing I would add to the previous messages it to check the settings on the query to see how Matching Gifts are being applied under Tools > Gift Processing > Credit Matching Gifts to.
  • Like Melissa, when I have records that aren't coming up in the query that I think should, I go to those records to see what they have in common. Usually it's pretty easy to figure out from there. Probably something like a gift type or soft credit.

If you are running your query through something in mail, then you should also check the various settings in mail to make sure it isn't excluding anyone. Sometimes mail will remove records if no valid address is  found (including no address with the send mail to box checked) or if no contact is found.
