Business Rule: Alumni Addressee

Options
Hello all,

This may actually be a question for support, but I thought I'd give it a shot here.  Our data entry staff have been manually adding new Alumni records, something that doesn't happen very often since we typically use Import.  They told me that the Addressee for these records is defaulting to: William H. Smith '96.  I have supervisor rights and went into Config. to check out the Business Rule behind this and found it, but didn't find a way to disable it.  There's just and either/or option for the class year: 1996 vs. 96.

We do NOT want this format.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Nichole

    Nichole,

It may be semantics but I don't believe you're looking for changing a business rule.  Where you would need to change the addressee format would be for your default set of add/sal.  I may be off base/not understanding your issue but it could be it.   You can get to the default sets from Constituent when in a constituent record.  Just open the default set you're using, choose addressee/salutations and change format to what you need.
  • I think JoAnn is right...you're looking to change the Addr/Sal Format in a Default Set.  Or, you may be looking at updating/correcting the Addr/Sal Format in Configuration (if you are on an Addr/Sal Tab, and look thru the dropdown, do you see the Format you don't want as an option?).

Thanks JoAnn and Jen. I can't believe that in all my years of using RE I never set up a Default Set!  Thanks for bringing that up. The Business Rule for Class Year in the Salutation for new Alumni Records is there, but now I can override it easily by pressing Shift F2 to load Default values.

    Thanks again!
