Adding Additional Registrant Fields

We've just bought OnEx and I'm trying to get my head round it but it seems like there isn't the kind of support round it as there are for other parts of RE (e.g. no Learn More modules, or User Guides) so I've got a coupe of questions.

1 - Does anyone know how you add more options to the "Select which registrant fields to include" area? We only have 5 (first name, last name, address, email and phone).

2 - Is it possible to link a registrant with an organisation? Or to register an orgnaisation rather than an individual?

I'll probably have a few more of these. Does using OnEx mean you're forever setting up new participant attributes and running exports imports adn queries to move the data to somewhere else?

I know that you can add participant attributes to track things connected to the event, so that may help with your first question.

As to the second, I think it would depend on how you want to track this. You could link the participant with an organization via an organization relationship on a constituent record or you can do it by marking the individual as a guest of the organization. I think it would depend on what the long term relationship is and how you need to be able to pull the information back out of RE. Both may be appropriate.

As a former NetCommunity user, I find Online Express very limited. I haven't found a way to add fields or customize properly.

For an organization registration, Online Express only recognizes an individual registration that can be linked to an organization, but I am struggling with this. Most of our big events are supported by corporate sponsorships and is recorded under the organization. Online Express forces us to create a record for the individual who purchases the registration/sponsorship, and I have to manually modify the registration to move it under the organization name at the batch level... If anyone has found a way around all this, I'd love to hear it!

Bummer!

We are considering moving from NetCommunity to Online Express ... but I'd really like for it to be easier for organizations to register (sponsor) events ... or, at the very least, make the linking process better.

I had it today ... I'll have to convert an individual and merge the registration into the organization record so that it reflects giving properly.

Rang Support and it turns out part of the answer to this is to go to the "3.Extras" tab and go to the section that says:

"Do you want to allow organisations to register?"

and then tick

"Allow individuals to register on behalf of an organisation."

This then gives a few more options which includes the ability to register organisations - it seems this works quite differently to just individuals - perhaps even better - but I'm still working out how all the information flows.
