Logging direct debit updates

We are shortly launching our first appeal to regular givers asking them to increase their amount.  Do people have any recomendation on how to log any increase in regular giving?  Ideally i want to be able to track that appeal X was the appeal that signed them up to regular giving at x amount and then appeal Y pursuade them to increase their donation.

  • Hi James! We just did that for the first time this year! We segmented the mailing to track those we asked to 'step-up' their giving and tracked which segment they received as a package. Then I used analytical reports > comparative report and restricted it to a query grouping everyone who either had that appeal segment on their record OR who gave a gift in that package. I hope that helps! I can give you more information about the query or report parameters if you need.
  • We track direct debit upgrades by using amendments, which allow us to change the appeal/fund/amount etc. while retaining a record of what the original values were.


    The one issue we had was that these upgraded gifts were not being included in the donor acknowledgement letters when we ran them. After some head-scratching, it transpired that "amendment" exists as its own gift type within the acknowledgement letter settings - once we included that type in the filter, everything seems to be working fine (fingers crossed - we only fixed it yesterday!)
