Higher Level Donors

Options
Good Morning!

I'm trying to pull a list of our higher giving donors ($1,000 or more) for a Valentine's Day mailing. The only trouble is that some of these gifts have come in and been coded as membership, and some are just entered as a general donation. Also, if a person does any amount totalling $1,000 or more they are considered a higher giving donor (i.e. they did $500 for the spring event and $500 for the fall event). Which canned report would you all suggest using to get the most accurate listing?

Thanks!

    Kerry,

If I got all your info correct, I would do a constituent query and use the summary fields (near bottom of criteria list) specifiying total gift amount >or= 1000.  Can put in date criteria, fund criteria.  You will want to select gift type so you don't double count pledges and their payments.

These queries have always worked fine for me.
  • I use a query and look for Gift Amount greater than = to $1,000, and I also filter the Gift Type (so that pledges and pledge payments are not counted twice), Gift Date(s) and Funds if applicable.

From what you wrote it would appear you are asking us if peeps who gave to Membership at $1000 vs. General Operating should be counted.  That is a question for your org/department.  And usually depends on what you are doing with the list.  But should be set as part of standard policy when reporting, one way or the other.  It is also up to your org to decide if multiple gifts in a FY/Cal year that add up to $1000 counts in this list or not.  If you do decided you want to include those smaller gifts, then your query will need to utilize the the Gift Summary Info for Total Gift Amount and the Dates, along with Gift Type and Funds (if applicable)
