Viewing Soft Credit Donor in Batch

Options
Our Data Entry knows how to add a soft credit to a donor in Batch; however, is it possible to be able to view the name/ID number of the soft credit donor within the batch without clicking into the hard credit donor?  They would like to see the name/ID number on its own line within the batch before the Batch Control Report is printed.

I've noticed that the soft credit donor is not a choice in the batch set-up defaults either.

Any help or suggestions appreciated!

I know of no way to have SC name appear on it's own line in batch.  Don't think name is available to view other than clicking SC icon where name is default listed or entered.
  • Like JoAnn says, there is not a way to make it show on a line or column in the batch.  You can use the legend to highlight gifts that include a soft credit to help identify them, but you'd have to go into the soft credit menu to see the detail.

... into the user for whom this change should be made. Open a gift batch. Select View, Legend from the menu bar. Highlight a particular entry type on the left and make the appropriate selections.

You can view the soft credits on the batch validation report before the gifts are committed though.  Make sure the report settings are for detail and not summary and when you click on the arrow by the view icon select the validation report.

For a Gift Batch, users can run a validation report that shows information about the batch. ... Select the Batch tab.Under Gift Batches, mark the Validation report format as Detail.

  • ColorMeHappy!  THANK YOU for the tip!  We don't need it for soft credits, but the ability to change colors for linked memberships is going to speed up our batch entry.  The data entry person only has to check that all lines are a beautiful shade of <insert favorite color here> to be sure that she has linked all the memberships!! Yipee!
  • There are also Color Legends in RE User Options (under Tools).  You can set colors, formatting (bold, italics), and/or a Suffix for Gifts, Addresses, Relationships, Event Participants, Event Records, and I think Memberships (we no longer have that module, so I don't see that option in my db).  And you can change other things like what color a required field is.  I would caution on those, however, because if you ever need to explain to someone else and you say that any green field is required, they won't see a green field, their's will probably be the default Aqua.

Did not know, however, that you could set Color Legends in Batch, so thanks, Nicole!
  • You can use those legends all over, like for relationships and event participants.

Caution though, it will show that gifts are linked, but you should still do a certain amount of confirmation to see that they are linked to the right event or memberhisp or correct soft credit recipient.  This is where the detail validation report can come in handy.
