NetCommunity Donations Transactions Interface Problems

Options
I'm fairly new to Raiser's Edge 7 and NetCommunity. Overall, I'm really impressed with the software. The other day we ran into a problem when processing donation transactions from our website, and I was baffled by the interface and how easy it is to make an irreversible mistake. I put in a help ticket and I was encouraged to post something here to suggest some updates that would be beneficial to all clients and users.

When processing online donation transactions, the "Delete Selected" button is right next to the "Bulk Processing" button. An accidental click of the mouse button and you can easily delete all of the online transactions you have selected rather than process them.

Also, once you do so you cannot restore them. Even worse, there is no way to review transactions made on Net Community if the donor signed up for recurring giving (you can find the one-time gifts on BBMS). The most I could do was hunt down donor names and email addresses via the acknowledgement email screen.

You should be able to either review transaction form submission on NC or set up some sort of notification that gives PCI compliant information for each transaction. Otherwise, how will I know that each donation made on NC is being communicated with RE?

Finally, the NC donation transaction permissions are all or nothing. I need the option to set specific permissions for that process. I want someone to be able to process these transactions but I don't want them to have permission to delete (let alone bulk delete) transactions.

  • You can get lots of feedback and advice from other users here, but if you're wanting to see changes to the software somebody steered you the wrong direction.  Suggestions for software changes/improvements and then voting on those suggestions happens at http://rediscovery.uservoice.com/forums/137015-raiser-s-edge-discovery-topics

  • Yes, I found it odd that you can't run reports from the NetCommunity interface.  We set up an email notification for every page so we at least have that back up.  It something like what you mentioned happens, the email plus BBMS printouts could at least save us.

Thank you John - we are looking into the option of recurring giving via NetCommunity and the link you provided is very helpful.
