Tax Receipts issued from Mail

Options
I've created a template for our Canadian Tax receipts and I issue them from the Mail Function.  I use a conditional merge based on the letter type.

I haven't been able to figure out how to "reuse" my template ... I seem to have to create it every time.  Is there an easy way to copy and paste a receipt template?

Thanks!

So you have your receipt template in Mail  > Receipts.  What is the issue needing you to recreate it?  I use the same letter all year, no sure what you are needing to copy and paste.

Like to help but not quite getting what's happening for you.
  • Is it that when you click the "merge" button you get a blank document, or that nothing at all happens?

If you click through just to "Word Merge Wizard" are any of your letters there?
  • We use different letters primarily based on gift amount.  I update the letters frequently, but keep the names the same.  I've been creating a new Gift receipt name annually ... maybe that's the issue.  If I just have a "Receipts for gifts" instead 2014 Gift Receipts, 2015 Gift Receipts, etc.  then my template by letter type should still be there when I go to Merge Wizard.

    Thanks.
  • Hi Christine,

We do much the same here - every year I do a "Save As" and name the new one 2016 E Receipts or 2016 Print Receipts for example. I like doing that so I have a quick reference for what I have done in past years for receipts.

I also like to do a save of my templates off RE and into Word so I can cut n' paste it back in if something goes sideways and I have to recreate the whole thing. I have a file of Word docs which are all copies of my templates. It has saved me a few times. Since the RE canned version of receipts just doesn't work well for Canadian receipts, it's more work to set up, but better in the long run.

    Cheers
